Hey Everyone,

Haven't been on for a long time. My family and I are moving back to Illinois after living in Indiana for two yrs. I still have my FOID card which expires in 2019. My current DL is from Indiana. My question is when we move back in 2 weeks do I need to send in a new application for my FOID card or is the FOID card I have still valid. I will be getting my IL drivers license whe we get back. The address on my FOID now is the address I will be living at. I am having a hard time finding an answer. Any help is great. Thanks.

Unless your FOID was revoked you are fine.

great question. I received my foid card and was a felon for about 40 days because somebody wearing a suit sent me me card but forgot to check or uncheck a box which made my foid invalid untill I got attention when I decided to go and buy something

at that point they realized it and checked or unchecked that box in the computer.

illinois sucks

there is no telling but I was told your foid card address is irrelevent .

the problem I had was caused because I renewed my foid before it expired. so do not renew your foid any earlier than necessary.

I've renewed all the foid cards in the house before they expired and didn't have a problem.

Ditto on the renewal SS.
With the backlog the ISP has now, they can't make it in the 30 days stipulated by law. Do NOT allow it to expire! I seem to remember a story on this site about confiscations happening as little as a week after they expire.
Just because the ISP can't keep up with the demand, you shouldn't drag your feet either!

I did registered mail, with a receipt they can go pound sand, it also give quick proof should I need to call my rep to complain. Waiting for a cleared check is a bad idea, they just sit on them.

Our FOID's took 7 weeks from start to finish, sent in first week of Jan.

They skirt the 30 day law by not cashing your payment until they are ready to process it.

If you are not moving to the same address as listed on your current FOID card, you will need to file a change of address form with ISP. Do your license first (or concurrent with the FOID) because they have to match.

Welcome back (I think)?!

They cash the check and get your money as fast as they can. Sent my wife's application for her foid card in at the end of March, and six days later, the check cleared the bank.
