I'm leaving in two weeks. The lethal tupperware's going to stay with friends, so what teeth n' claws can I have there?

Can I put my pocketknife in checked luggage and keep it clipped to my pocket once I claim my bags?

Can I carry pepper spray? If so, does anybody know where in Moline I might be able to get some? I'll be staying in Iowa; is it legal to carry spray there?

From what I've read, I think the answers are yes, but I just wanted some idea from the folks who are closer to it. Thanks, y'all are the best!

The TSA can help on some regs.

Knives in checked baggage are ok.

You can put your knife in your pocket once you claim your checked baggage.

AFAIK pepper spray is ok to carry in Illinois. No idea where you might get some. You can have up to 4oz of pepper spray in checked baggage as long as it has some sort of safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge.

Are you flying into Illinois or Iowa? They probably won't give you as much crap if you're checking the stuff in Texas and flying here. If you're flying OUT of say O'Hare in Chicago for example...then you might take some flak on the way back. King Richard doesn't even like his subjects to have nail clippers Smile

So are you staying in Illinois at all? Gonna say hi?

The TSA allows it, yes; not all airlines do. That'll teach me not to call around about this first; my airline does not. Can't wait 'til I can afford just to charter my flights and then I can take whatever I want, as long as I don't go to certain states. That won't help in this case, but maybe I can talk my family into moving to a more civilized state while I'm there!

We'll be flying into Moline and pretty much hugging the coast of the Mississippi the whole time. So if the Frappr is any indication, we'll be much too far from anybody to visit, as our time for side trips is short... Sad My older cat has kidney disease and I don't like compressing her care to once-a-day by a petsitter, so I can't be gone that long.

I do, however, have a lead on some places in the Quad Cities to get some pepper spray as soon as we land, so at least I'll have some teeth and claws! Smile
