This is great! I wish I was a little closer, I would stop by! Piggly Wiggly agreed to having armed citizens in front of their store? (I'm assuming they agreed). I need to patronize that store more often!

I like how they say "Packing Heat"...
Wish I could go but it's 4 hours one way from my house! |

They did agree.
And Craig, I know, but can YOU think of a better name for an open carry food drive???
Sucks it's a 4 hour drive each way. I expected this for some people though. Who says we can only have one of these? Some people near the border need to get their act in gear! |

Yeah it's about 3.5 hour drive for me too. Anything closer to the state line I am in for. I would even drive to Milwaukee. I have some friends there from when I was in the reserves stationed at Mitchell airport. |

Feel free to use the name and start one of your own, if you would like. I'll warn you, it can be both fun and frustrating at the same time. The secret is knowing which stores are most likely not to have to deal with massive amounts of corporate BS. |

My Daughter (why I don't know) loves Piggly Wiggly and last time we went up to Governor Dodge park we always stock up there at the one right down the street. She was EXTREMELY disappointed they didn't sell t-shirts!
I don't think they have those stores in IL anywhere but if anyone knows IF or where you can a PG t-shirt please let me know... |

You don't know why she's your daughter? I'll PM you and explain it. You must have missed that talk at some point
I don't think I'll be able to make it to this one, but I will put the word out to our email list. Hopefully we can get some people to show! |

Unless something major comes up, I'll head over from the west side of the state and help out. Let me know if I can bring anything. |

If it is illegal to open carry in a car, do we load up in the parking lot ????

Yeah Chris. Keep it unloaded and in a case AND out of reach in the car (yeah, Wisconsin is even more stringent than Illinois by adding out of reach...)
When you park or arrive on private property you can take it out of the case, load it up, holster it, and go about your business. |

Anyone see a real problem with the "Packing Heat for the Hungry" name? I think it could actually get more attention this way (media wise). But are we showing open carry in a good light by using this name? I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. |

Here is my two cents and little bity humble opinion:
I don't see a real problem but I think it does generate a negative conotation in some ways. Almost sounds like were a bunch of wannabe gunslingers out for an afternoon to me. Will it bring press? Sure sounds like it and if thats what the goal is, then go for it.
I would of chose something along the lines of "Icarry for the Hungry" or "2A rights for the Hunger Fight". But then again, I'm not putting this together. I am behind the cause whatever you want to call it.
Either way, we are still making an appearance and hopefully getting the right message out there. |
