It's taken years, but I've made a very difficult decision. I am going to leave my home state, the place I was born, my friends and family, and all of you.
I have joined the Free State Project (www.freestateproject.org) and will be making the move to New Hampshire as soon as I can lawfully (because of my legal situation) and financially (because of my legal situation).
I don't yet know what this means for ICarry, although I see no reason for any of the work we've accomplished to go away. Someone or some organization would have to step up to take over. Perhaps I can help a little bit from out of state, but I wouldn't be able to lead the effort in any way like I do now.
I'm sorry to abandon you, but I feel I've just about given all of the energy I can into this fight here. I don't enjoy living in such a backwards state where freedom has no place. I am moving to greener pastures, with large numbers of liberty-minded folk, and I hope to be working on even bigger issues of freedom than concealed carry and perhaps gun rights in general.
I don't know when I'll be moving, so I'll be sticking around and continuing my work here as much as possible until then. The plan of dedicating myself full time to ICarry this year has changed, since I need to work a real job in order to save money for the move. I will do what I can when I can. I will be helping out a ton with the IGOLD event coming up. I am looking forward to this event.
I've spent more time, energy, and money in this thing that I ever imagined possible. I hope it hasn't all been for naught. Don't let ICarry die -- continue on with it. I want my vision, my dream, to realize for this state. Change will not happen until we approach the problem as we never have before! |

If you did, raiven, you and I wouldn't be the only 2 there. There are other ICarry people going, but I'll leave that up to them when to announce it. |

Sak, I too have decided to leave the state of Illinois (legal situation permitting). Other than computers, my passion is motorcycling, so a warmer climate suits me better. Visited the Florida panhandle a few months ago, and really like it there - go inland a few miles and you wouldn't know you weren't in Illinois. And, you have to like their gun laws.
My father would absolutely roll over in his grave if he thought I was planning on selling the family farm and leaving Illinois. (But then, he never got charged with murder for defending himself, either.)
New Hampshire is a great state for motorcycling, so maybe we will see you out there. Good luck. |

Wow Sak that came outta left field there..Wasnt expecting that..
First John Birch and now Sak.
Well perhaps ya saw the handwritting on tha wall like jb did.
I wish ya the best Shaun. I know you gotta do whats best for you..
I hope Icarry will continue to thrive in your absense..
Perhaps Tenth Calvary will startup and work in tandem with icarry.
I personally dont see any hope for Illinois. I envision illinois being the
only state that completely denies its citizens the right to carry. |

Why am I not surprised?
People consistently take the easy way out.
Best of luck. |

I know you're just funnin', but for those viewers who might not think so, I'd just add that if it's something Shaun will be doing, by definition it's not the easy way out.
We all got our mission in life. Sometimes the hardest part of living is figuring out what it is. Hope you find yours Shaun, and thanks for all you've already done and for what good you'll be doing in the future.

With the long, drawn out face of adversities facing one, it is obvious why one would dislike Ill Annoys and leave family, friends, property, etc. behind for better states like Florida, New Hampshire or probaby any of 40 other states. Just don't jump from the pan to the fire. Focus on the most immediate situation and win in the arena that you are forced to be in one step at a time. The odds are that you will prevail but the Illinois and msot procedures take an inexplicably preposterous amount of time. But in playing in this arena long periods of time favor you. Hang in here and do not make any decisions until pending events have resolved themselves. Themn, take some time and look to family for support to start over. Pro2A advocacy can and msut be doen as a sideline unless you have an enormous amount of related funding coming in Sans such funding, one can still be an advocate. We can pass a CCW bill in Illinosi and eventually probably will. It takes focus and wearing outthe other side and making deals with them. This is how the retired cop CCW passed in Illinois also. Many here have not familiarized themselves with the nuts and bolts of Illinois lobbying even though thsi is exactly what must be done. Whatever you decide, good luck to you and thanks for your work. |

Concealed carry in Illinois -- even if we got it tomorrow -- would be a very small victory. It's an important victory nonetheless, but very small. It's just a FIRST step towards much more -- a first step that must be taken.
I'm not happy here, and I don't think I will be. There's so much apathy, even in the best of us. It's hard to move forward. It's like walking through deep mud, barely able to gain ground. I'm ready for a change. I'm sick of trying to convince people of the value of liberty.
It's also really hard getting people to come together. Someone in Illinois will have to do this after I'm gone. I hope IGOLD is the first step towards that. Illinoisans will have to stop letting petty differences divide them.
So time will tell what kind of a leader, if any, Illinois will produce. You need someone who won't back down or appease the antis, you need someone who will practice what they preach, you need someone who will do work and not just talk about it (seems to be lots of talkers around!), and you need someone who will stick it out. I'm sorry that I'm unable to stick it out.
I admire someone who can stomach this state enough to stay here. I look forward to distancing myself from Daley and his machine. I would like to see Daley and/or Rod convicted, but even that isn't very likely to happen. They have powerful bosses above them. If they do get convicted, we'll have a party for the occasion. Until then, I'm out of here as soon as I'm able. Being in this state is like having a knife in your back, and each antic, each law, each press release and call for more government, more restrictions, more welfare...each is like a twist of that knife. I'm done with that. There's enough to worry about on the federal level as this country goes down the sewer; I can at least be relieved on the state level. |

I have no chioce. My company is based in NH. They take thier motto "Life free or Die" to heart thomas Paine style.
Unlike Kali who talk alot about alternative energy sources NH leads the US in it. Solar and wind. half the state lives OFF the grid. Everyone has chickens and other farm animals. Most are completely self sufficient. I really like that state.
FYI if you do something stupid like go for a walk in the woods without a compass and a gun and get lost TOBAD thier thinking will be it was your stupid desicion and it's your problem.
SAK I also agree with you completely. If it wasn't for my three little ones I would have bailed awhile ago. Heck I live in Harvard it as fare from Crook county as I can get and still fly from O-scare |

I'm with you, my wife and I are going to stay around and fight. It's our duty to keep and bear arms! Maybe I'll see you at IGOLD. I'll be coming from Quincy, with I hope, a full bus of brothers (sisters) in arms. |
