Hi Everyone:

Cullerton is attemting to bring the failed Cook County ""assault weapons"" ban to the State floor as early as tomorrow. See NRA-ILA announcement:

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2012/12/urgent-illinois-legislature-to-attempt-passage-of-gun-ban-this-week.aspx

I wrote mine this evening. Below are the letters I wrote. Feel free to copy any part or all of them and use the NRA letter wiring link to contact your as soon as possible.

Dear State Sen. XXXX:

I have recently learned that Rep. Cullerton intends to introduce a more
restrictive version of Chicago's incorrectly names ""assault weapons"" (sic)
ban at the State level during the upcoming lame duck session beginning
tomorrow. As a law-abiding gun owner, I strongly appeal to you to vote
AGAINST any attempt to further restrict our 2nd Amendment rights at he
State level. Not only would this significantly restrict our rights to
compete in the shooting sports, but more importantly affect our ability to
protect ourselves and our families from dangerous and violent criminals.

We have spoken on several occasions during the past years and you have
always stood on the side of law abiding gun owners against any attempt to
further restrict our ability to own and possess guns for any lawful
purpose. I trust that your convictions have not changed and that you will
continue to OPPOSE this and any other attempt to disarm our citizens and
leave us more vulnerable to the violent criminal element.

Please email me back and confirm that you are as committed as ever to
prevent this and any further restrictions on possession and ownership of
guns for any lawful purpose by our citizens and will not vote to disarm
legal gun ownership in IL.

Thanks you again for your service to our State.

Respectfully.

Dear State Rep XXXX:

As a law abiding gun owner, I appeal to you as my representative to vote
AGAINST any new gun laws rumored to be brought to the floor of the IL
State House during the lame duck session beginning tomorrow. As I
understand it, Rep. Cullerton will be attempting to bring the failed gun
ban currently in place in Chicago (commonly referred to as the "assault
weapons" ban (sic)) and implement it State-wide. Not only would this be a
mistake but also would undermine law-abiding citizens ability to compete
in the shooting sports (which I do) as well as our ability to protect
ourselves and our families.

We have spoken on several occasions during the last year and you have
always supported lawful gun ownership for the citizens you represent. I
trust that you will remain defiant in this latest attempt to infringe upon
our constitutional rights and not cave to the emotionally based and
misguided attempt by Rep. Cullerton.

Please email me back with your intentions with respect to this serious
issue.

Thank you for your service to our State.

Respectfully,

We need to be heard NOW and often.
