How do you differentiate the No's from the ones that did not vote?

So all 20 were "no" votes. Any other bill and this thing would pass with a simple majority. 65-52. I still don't understand why it needs to be 71. Let it pass the house, then pass the senate. When quinn decides to veto it, then we will need 71. This is BS.

I just saved that, for when elections come up.

This is the State where our current President voted 'present' 92 times. He set a poor example for future legislators so they can stay away from sensitive issues by not voting or voting present.

Its not the no votes that matter. We need more green! I sent a letter to my rep this morning. It is clear that she does not represent her people.

If you were listening yesterday they questioned why it needed 71. They stated that the SCOTUS ruling said it is an individuals right to bear arms. So why would this preempt home rule. It is just a bunch of legal BS by anti gunners!!1

In order to preempt home rule authority, 3/5 majority was needed. With just a simple majority, any city or municipality would be free to disallow CCW. You could be legally carrying on one side of the street, and comitting a felony if you cross the street. The preemption is absolutely necessary.
I know we are all disappointed (I'm being kind) but considering that this is the first time this has even gotten out of committee and it garnered 65 votes, is truly a reason to be proud of our efforts. Let's be honest....how many of us REALLY expected this to pass the house, senate, gov's desk and possibly a veto session this year? Yes, we came close enough to taste it. It may take one or two more passes thorugh the sausage making process, but it is bound to happen.
Let's regroup, dig in and keep pressing!!!

We need more unannounced OC and CC events around the state. Especially up near Dicktown. The the districts up around me.....Lake Co. .........the reps voted "FOR". So it wasn't the Lake or McHenry Co reps. Twas the Chitcago and Crook Co. reps that nixed it.!!

But yet the Chitcago city council aldermen can carry..........why do you suppose that is??? Exclamation

They've essentially voted themselves "superior status". It should be law; not only nationally, but state wise also, that "our elected officials" must live under the "SAME" laws they enact upon us!!!! That goes for pension, health care, gun rights, etc.!!!!!

Don't y'all think that'd wise some of them up a bit???!!!

Also, cut the salaries of all elected folks. The term "citizen legislator" would have a lot more meaning then. Term limits folks and also cut their compensation!!!!
